Most recently, Koppen served as Technical Director at FC Copenhagen, a role he assumed in March 2026 after progressing from Head of Scouting and Recruitment. His track record includes significant contributions at Rangers, where he worked alongside current West Ham interim CEO Karim Virani as Director of Football Recruitment and later Technical Director. Prior to that, he was a key figure in PSV Eindhoven’s recruitment team from 2018 to 2024.
Koppen will lead player recruitment efforts for the first team but will not oversee the overall football operation. He is expected to collaborate closely with head coach Nuno Espírito Santo, sporting director Mark Noble, and the board on key football matters, including contract renewals, academy development, and player sales. This appointment forms part of a refreshed, holistic approach to transfers at the London Stadium, aiming to blend data-driven insights with traditional scouting to identify high-potential talents across global markets.
