Sensational Seamus Coleman replacement revealed as David Moyes spotted at Burnley vs West Ham
Everton manager David Moyes has given supporters another reason to speculate about the club’s search for a new right-back after being spotted at Turf Moor during Burnley’s 2-2 Championship draw with West Ham United on Sunday.
Everton have a clear need at right-back following the departure of long-serving captain Seamus Coleman. The position remains one of the areas Moyes is expected to strengthen before the transfer window closes, with Jake O’Brien and James Garner previously filling in at times. Recent reports have linked Everton with several right-backs as the club looks for a long-term solution.
Moyes’ appearance at Turf Moor immediately raised questions about his purpose. One obvious candidate was Kyle Walker. The experienced defender started for Burnley and operated on the right side of a back three. Walker has already been linked with Everton this summer, with reports suggesting Moyes admires his experience and defensive qualities.
Walker would represent a fascinating option for Everton. The 36-year-old has extensive Premier League experience after a long career with Manchester City and Tottenham. He also remained with Burnley following their relegation and started their opening Championship fixture against West Ham.
There were other possible reasons for Moyes’ visit, though. West Ham right-back Kyle Walker-Peters started the match, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka, another player previously linked with Everton, was absent from West Ham’s matchday squad. Moyes could also have been monitoring Taty Castellanos, who plays for West Ham.
The result itself produced plenty of drama. West Ham took a 2-0 lead through Max Kilman and Manor Solomon, before Burnley’s Zian Flemming scored twice late in the game to secure a 2-2 draw.
For Everton supporters, the key story remains Moyes’ search for a right-back. Walker is an intriguing possibility, but there is currently no confirmation that Everton are close to signing him. His presence on the pitch while Moyes watched from the stands has added fuel to the speculation, but the evidence does not yet justify calling the transfer confirmed.
With Everton’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace approaching, Moyes has limited time to address the position.
