Southampton have received an offer of £20m for midfielder Shea Charles from Leeds United, according to the Daily Mail.
Southampton will be in the Championship for consecutive seasons after their failure to win promotion via the play-offs. The Saints were kicked out of the competition following the drama of Spygate and will start next term with a four-point deduction.

Southampton cannot afford to be reckless this summer with their transfer moves and overall business. Whilst they are in a much better position than Leicester City, they can’t risk a similar situation to the Foxes last season.

Eckert has a chance to build a squad of his own this summer, and the club should back him despite the behind-the-scenes drama during the run-in last term. The Southampton head coach deserves a chance to redeem himself, and this summer is a good place to start.
