Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez wants to leave the club this summer.
The Villans qualified for the Champions League this season by finishing fourth in the Premier League, but have had a busy summer window trying to maintain the level of their squad after losing Youri Tielemans, Lucas Digne and Morgan Rogers, while midfielder Amadou Onana will miss most of the season after suffering an ACL tear at the World Cup.
Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Alejandro Garnacho have already been signed, while the club are pushing to seal deals for Pervis Estupinan and Nicolas Jackson too, but it has now emerged that there may be another first-team star who needs replacing.

Martinez, who has been described as ‘world-class’, has been a regular for Villa since joining from Arsenal, and was a key member of the side that won the Europa League last season, while he also reached a second consecutive World Cup final with Argentina in the summer.
The 33-year-old was heavily linked with a move away last summer, but a deal never materialised and he stayed put. This summer, he has been strongly linked with a move to Juventus, but Villa have so far been adamant that he will not be sold. However, it has now emerged that the former Arsenal man is keen to leave and push a move through.
“From what I’m told, I would be surprised if Martinez stayed at Aston Villa,” Brown told Football Insider.
“It looks like he’s getting closer to that move he’s wanted, especially when you’ve got the Juventus manager coming out and speaking publicly about it.
“To be honest, it is a bit of a surprise that he’s been so desperate to leave Aston Villa after everything he’s achieved there and everything they’ve helped him to achieve.
“Emery would have been open to keeping him around if he was willing to stay, and they thought he might be after getting into the Champions League. But he’s been pretty clear about it since last summer, he wants to leave Aston Villa and move to a top European club, so it looks like he’s going to get his wish.”

This summer was always going to be a difficult one for Villa because of their financial situation, but after selling Morgan Rogers for £117m they should be in a much stronger position now.
Martinez is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and Villa have come out publicly and said that he won’t be sold. If they buckle to the pressure and let him leave, it won’t help them in the long run when it comes to keeping their squad together and competing.
If the club are willing to let him leave then they must ensure that any replacement brought in is immediately ready to make an impact at the highest level, but for now, Martinez must forget about a move aw
ay and focus on helping Aston Villa for another campaign.
