Unai Emery answers Joao Palhinha transfer question amid Bayern Munich talks
Unai Emery did not want to answer questions about Aston Villa’s interest in João Palhinha during his pre-UEFA Super Cup press conference, but admitted they are one of several clubs interested in the midfielder

Villa are believed to have held positive talks with Bayern Munich over a potential deal for Palhinha, although the German giants want to find a permanent solution to his future rather than accept a straight loan back to the Premier League.
The Portuguese midfielder spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, making 45 appearances across all competitions and scoring seven goals, including crucial strikes against Wolves and Everton as Spurs battled to stay in the top flight.
“It’s difficult to focus on a game if we’re thinking about the players that can come,” Emery said when asked about Palhinha in his press conference.
“In the final weeks of the transfer window, we are a club that players can still leave.
“I don’t want to talk about an individual player but you ask about Palhinha and we all know him in the world of football, he’s a player who’s got a lot of interest from a number of teams.
“But for us, we’re going to concentrate on tomorrow’s match which is important enough for us.
“I’m not going to speak more about players who could be available in the market, or those who could leave or join.”
Aston Villa will face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final on Wednesday, August 12, as the Europa League and Champions League winners meet in Austria. Fans can watch the game live on TNT Sports via HBO Max or Prime Video’s HBO Max channel.
