A West Ham move for Troy Parrott appears to be stepping up, with talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook claiming the Hammers are now “making a big play” for the AZ Alkmaar striker.
Nuno Espírito Santo is looking to strengthen his attack before the Championship campaign begins.
Hammers News, highlighting Crook’s update on X, reports that West Ham are pushing hard for the Republic of Ireland international. Parrott broke the 30-goal barrier for AZ last season and has attracted interest from elsewhere in Europe.
AZ have also acknowledged that the 24-year-old wants a transfer this summer. West Ham have been linked with Parrott throughout the week, but Crook’s latest update suggests their pursuit is becoming increasingly serious.

A new centre-forward remains an obvious area for Nuno to address before the league season starts.
ReadWestHam looked at Nuno’s attacking options ahead of Saturday’s Portsmouth game on Thursday morning. Taty Castellanos currently appears to have the advantage when it comes to leading the line, but Parrott would provide significant competition if West Ham can complete a deal.
Reports in the Netherlands have previously placed AZ’s valuation at around €30million. West Ham are understood to have the financial capacity to meet that figure following a summer in which several major sales have reshaped the squad.
Parrott would also arrive with experience of English football after coming through Tottenham’s academy. His career has accelerated since moving to the Netherlands, where regular football has turned him into one of the most productive forwards in the Eredivisie.
There is still no confirmation of an agreement with AZ. However, Crook describing West Ham as making a “big play” for Parrott is the clearest indication yet that the Hammers are actively pushing to bring him to east London.
