One of Newcastle United’s summer signings made a surprise visit to his former club over the weekend.
Newcastle United new boy Bazoumana Toure made a fleeting return to former club Hoffenheim before turning his focus to preparing for a possible Magpies debut this week.
The Ivory Coast winger became United’s most expensive signing of the summer transfer window so far when he completed a reported £43m move to Tyneside earlier this month and he will hope to make a big impact during his first season at St James Park. Toure trained with his new team-mates last week and was back in the North East on Monday after he returned to Germany to take in Hoffenheim’s friendly with Greuther Furth.

The Bundesliga club posted a photo of the winger via Instagram with the caption: “A very special support today. Glad to see you again, @bazo_bazo28.”
After training with the Magpies following his return to Tyneside, Toure could make his United bow in Wednesday night’s pre-season friendly with Championship club Bristol City after Eddie Howe admitted he and fellow new boy Aladji Bamba will be monitored ahead of the visit to Ashton Gate and described the duo as ‘in good condition’.
When asked if both players could be in contention to face the Robins, the Magpies manager said: “Maybe we’ll just have to see their physical state when we get them. We want to make sure that when they enter the pitch, they’re in a good condition to play. I don’t see why that shouldn’t be relatively quick.”

Speaking to the club website after agreeing a long-term contract with the Magpies, the Ivory Coast winger said: “I’m very, very happy to be here. It was my dream since I was young to play in the Premier League for a big team like Newcastle. Newcastle is like a family, which will help me show my best on the pitch. I will give my best every single day for this shirt. I’m very excited to join Newcastle and I can’t wait to meet my team-mates, the supporters and everybody at the club. I’m also very excited to play at St. James’ Park for the first time.”
