What has been said about Thierno Barry’s goal vs Newcastle?

The striker scored what was perhaps the easiest finish of his career to put the Toffees 1-0 up in Monday’s clash at St James’ Park.
Tyrique George’s excellent work on the wing put the Englishman into a position to curl the ball into the back of the net. However, his effort would be hit straight at Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek.
The power on the shot, though, was enough to squeeze past the Czech goalkeeper, with Barry lying in wait. However, before the goal was confirmed, supporters had to withstand a daunting wait as VAR conducted multiple checks on the incident.
Everton’s joy in the second half against Newcastle was almost dimmed.
While the players and fans celebrated Barry finding the back of the net, there was some worry the goal could have been chalked off.
There were multiple checks on the goal, with new information on what was exactly looked at now emerging.
As shared by talkSPORT, they have relayed what they have heard about the VAR check on the incident.
They stated: “A word on the Everton goal. They checked for a foul, presumably on Fabian Schar, but it was deemed not a foul due to the high threshold for contact in the Premier League. That’s what we’ve been told.”
The decision would ultimately go Everton’s way, handing them the lead as they continued to pile the pressure on the Geordies.
Barry did appear to catch Schar with his hand, but it was purely accidental, while any offside shouts were also disproved in the checks.
