Everton‘s 1-0 win over Ipswich Town contained a controversial moment.
The Blues took the lead through Thierno Barry, who deflected James Tarkowski‘s effort into the net.
David Moyes‘ side picked up all three points at home thanks to that strike from the Frenchman.
The Toffees had plenty of chances but could not add to their lead in the contest.
However, they held on through a solid defensive performance and kept the win with a tense seven minutes of additional time.
Now, the Premier League has reacted to an incident from the clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
What did the Premier League say about Everton controversy?
Barry thought that he had doubled his tally when he headed home in the 58th minute.
However, Stuart Attwell and the video assistant referee had other ideas as it was eventually ruled out, after Atwell headed to the monitor.
Brennan Johnson was deemed to be offside in the build-up as he obstructed goalkeeper Christian Walton from getting to the ball.
Taking to their match centre account on X on Saturday, the Premier League said: “VAR checked the referee’s call of goal to Everton – and determined that Johnson was interfering with an opponent while in an offside position and recommended an on-field review.

It was probably justified given that statement, but it seems harsh as the goalkeeper was not getting anywhere near it.
What does Moyes need to work on?
Moyes will just be relieved that his side came away with the right result at full-time.
It was exactly what they deserved from the contest, and luckily, the newly promoted side could not reply in the end.
Now, the work will be to keep up the standards over the international break.
Perhaps the most important aspect will be finding a way for his side to score more often as they should have been out of side.
Even without the offside goal, they had plenty of chances to increase the lead and put the result beyond doubt, but could not manage it.
Against tougher opposition, it could come back to haunt the Merseysiders if they continue to struggle in front of goal and can’t pull away in matches that they are dominating.
Hopefully, Moyes and his staff can find ways to increase the quality of chances that his side create, so that the attackers can increase the amount of goals that they score.
