Rangers need to make a move to sign a new striker following Lawrence Shankland’s injury.
The Gers were hit with a crucial blow at the beginning of the season when it was confirmed that Youseff Chermiti was ruled out for a significant period due to a serious knee injury.
That left Rangers with minimal options in the centre-forward position, heavily relying on Shankland to hit the ground running at his new club.
Since joining the club, the former Hearts striker has so far hit three goals in his opening five games in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers currently sit in fourth position having won just three of their opening five games, so losing players is certainly not ideal with the summer transfer window closed.
They can, however, turn to the free agent market, and they might need to after news of Shankland’s injury emerged.
According to journalist Chris Jack, Shankland faces three months on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring tear during Rangers’ victory over Motherwell.
Derek McInnes expressed his concern after the game that it was a potentially significant injury for the striker, and there’s a chance he doesn’t return until the end of the year.
It’s a crucial blow for the Glasgow giants, but there could be an opportunity for them to explore the free agent market to sign a replacement.
Rangers should go and get Ayew

With Chermiti and Shankland both on the treatment table, it would be a smart idea for Rangers to go out and sign a free agent striker.
One player who is still available is Jordan Ayew.
At the age of 34, Ayew has plenty of experience in multiple different leagues, and was still contributing last season in a poor Leicester City side.

Ayew, who has been capped 122 times by Ghana, provided nine goals and assists in the league last term, while he scored five times in the Premier League the previous campaign.
The 34-year-old is also capable of playing on either wing, so his versatility could make him a useful option.
McInnes needs extra bodies in attack, and Ayew could be that man on a free transfer.
