It’s A little Odd That Emery Hasn’t Given Much Of A Chance To The Players He Signed. And Three Games In, Where Are Villa Exactly?

Three Games In. So Where Exactly Are Villa? So where are we after three games in the Premier League? Are things as bad as some people say? Let’s take a little dive into our short history this season and see if we can make any sense of it all.The first match against Brighton was an absolute disaster. There was a red card for our debutant Joao Gomes, and we found ourselves four goals down after thirty-one minutes, without a single shot on goal for the entire match. The only positive from that afternoon was that we at least steadied ourselves after Brighton’s fourth goal and avoided an even heavier defeat. Then there was Arsenal at home on the 31st of August. In that match, there was no registered shot on target from Villa, but the performance was a much-improved one.I watched the match, and I thought we deserved a point. At the end of the game, you could see how much it meant to Arsenal to get that win, which goes some way to showing the performance of the Villa lads. And then we played Hull City away. By the end of the match, we had earned our first point of the season and registered our first shot on target. We had chances to score our first goal of the season, but we failed to take them. The New SigningsI find it a little odd that some of the players we have signed haven’t been given much of a chance. Emery says they must get up to speed on how we do things here at Villa. I would have thought the best time to get something out of a player who has just arrived at the club would be at the start of the season, when they feel they have something to prove. Some Villa fans have already come to a full judgement on certain new signings after only cameo appearances. Other than Suzuki, Jackson and Gomes, none of us can get a full understanding of whether Emery’s signings have been a success. It’s way too early to tell.Suzuki has had a promising start, with Jackson in second place and Gomes coming in third with a horrendous start to his Villa career. So my feelings so far are pretty much as I predicted. You cannot sell as many first-team players as we did and expect to pick up where we left off last season.Emery has his way of doing things, and we’ve virtually got a new squad of players. I’d like to see him give some of his signings more of a chance to shine. I’d also like to see substitutions made a little sooner if things are not going our way, rather than waiting until near the end of the match.I don’t think we can go five games underperforming like we did at the start of last season and recover as strongly as we did. We’ve made huge changes to the squad. We all need to be a little braver when selecting the team, attacking the opposition, and voicing our opinions, no matter who it upsets.
