Former Rangers striker and Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd has delivered a scathing verdict on Djeidi Gassama following the attacker’s underwhelming display in Rangers’ recent Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee United.

Speaking on the post-match analysis, Boyd did not hold back as he tore into the 23-year-old Mauritanian international, branding him an “absolute failure” on the day and questioning whether the winger is currently good enough to wear the Rangers jersey on a consistent basis.

Boyd, never one to mince his words, continued his assessment by highlighting specific moments that summed up Gassama’s afternoon. A misplaced pass that gifted possession in a dangerous area, a poor first touch that allowed the United defence to recover easily, and a complete lack of threat when isolated against his full-back all drew the former Scotland international’s ire.

“There’s no hiding place at a club like Rangers,” Boyd added. “The fans expect more. The manager expects more. And right now Gassama is not delivering. It’s not just about talent – plenty of players have talent. It’s about application and consistency, and he showed neither today. Absolute failure is the only way to describe it.”

The comments are likely to intensify the spotlight on the former Sheffield Wednesday man, who has shown flashes of quality since his move to Ibrox but has struggled for consistent end product this season.
